    To ensure that only high-quality securities with adequate size, liquidity, and market depth enter the derivatives segment, capital markets regulator Sebi has come up with tighter norms. It said a stock should be traded in for at least three-fourths of the days in a trading cycle, and the trading should include at least 15% of the number of traders who actively route orders or 200, whichever is higher, among other conditions. The intention behind this step is to allow the regulator to reduce market manipulation and volatility and therefore, it would be for better protection of investors. A stock failing to meet the criteria in a month will be shifted out of the derivative segment if it happens for three consecutive months.
